What are you doing when you import a paper layout or PDF into AutoCAD? Before the 2023 release of AutoCAD you opened the original drawing, placed your new information on the original drawing sheet, and then, often with lots of steps and manual copy and paste operations, merged the new information into the original drawing. Now you can open the original drawing, and import your newly acquired information directly into the drawing. (video: 1:15 min.)Importing paper into AutoCAD has always been a complex process, but AutoCAD 2023 simplifies the way that you import your information from paper. The new feature is called Markup Import, and it lets you import a paper layout or a PDF into AutoCAD with a few clicks. (video: 1:15 min.)Markup Import has three versions of Import: Quick Import, Import From File, and Import From Paper. Quick Import and Import From Paper are available in the Add Markup dialog box, while Import From File is available on the File menu. The basic version, Quick Import, uses a new technology that will become available in AutoCAD 2020. You can add text, annotate the layout or PDF, and add notes or other information into the drawing.
