Honoring Mothers

Mother’s Day is a time to dedicate in honor of every woman who has given birth, adopted, fostered, cared for, nurtured, or loved someone’s children as her own. According to scripture, honoring (our father) and mother comes with a promise.

“Honor your father and your mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” Ex. 20:12 NLT

Many of us are left scrambling at the beginning of May trying to figure out something to give to our moms. In fact, America will spend $19 billion on flowers and chocolate on this special day. How do you shop for the person who has given you everything they could? What do you give to a person who has shaped your life tremendously? What do you give a mother that worked 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, just to make sure you wouldn’t feel an ounce of sadness? What do you give to the one who has motivated you to dream or the one who says “I love you” when you need it the most?

Give special honor to your mom this Mother’s Day. If she is near you, spend time. If she is far away, make a call. If she has already left this earth, thank God for her.

As you honor her, remember all the mothers we touch at Lakeshore Pregnancy Center.
